Angelina : the lady of tea rooms

25/03/2018

There is always a queue in front of this mythical parisian tea room and as unpleasant as the waiting is, at the end we are rewarded with a sweet dessert and a nice cup of tea or coffee. The interior is pretty and reflects the french style of the "belle époque".

I do recommend to have a look at the pastries in the shop beforehand in order to have a clear idea on what to order.

It is a touristic place so the service can be cold and the waiters very busy.

Choc Africain (chocolate mousse and cake) : a chocolate bomb. If you like chocolate like me you are served !

Mont Blanc (chestnut cream, meringue and whipped cream) : the classical dessert by Angelina which is a sure value.

La Vénus (rose cream, rasberry and crumble) : the visual and the color stand out. Inspired by the ingredient, the rose shaped dessert is very light, the rasperry heart is strong in flavour but lacks quantity and the crumble is quite crunchy.

Le Succès noisette (hazelnut biscuit, hazelnut cream and grilled hazelnuts and pistachios) : the texture is very soft, there is a slight crunch with the grilled nuts. If you like hazelnut you will surely like this dessert, for the others it can be a redundant.

In the end the desserts are good but the flavours are classical. The price is a little high  for simple flavours. Though I really enjoy their visual creativity. The tea room should be visited at least once in a lifetime.
