John Weng : the perfect mix between France and Asia
12/05/2018
As soon as we enter the restaurant we arrive in a french and asian atmosphere that is at the same time industrial and refined. The visuals and the taste will make you travel to a indefinite country where the only goal is to eat well.
The place has a lot a appeal, we feel the asian influences without them being too cliché. The service is very nice, the waiters are cool and helpful.
It was hot that day, so to freshen up I take a nice “Salade d’Angus Thaï” (thaï beef tataki salad). And it was everything that I was expecting event better ! A fresh entrée, with a nice vinegar taste, crunchy, slightly spicy and perfectly cooked tataki beef. Nothing to else to report.
For the dish I chose a the “magret Oriyaki” (Oriyaki duck breast) : the skin of the duck is nice and crispy, the sauce is very powerful that is perfectly balanced with the vegetables and the rice. It is quite generous and I loved it !
The “Angus qui pleure” (the crying Angus) : it is a nice portion of beef covered with cilantro. The meat is perfectly cooked, and the side sauce is delicious. It’s almost like the thaï sauce of the salad, it’s fresh, with a touch of vinegar that goes perfectly well with the meat. The coleslaw was a little bland but it was well balanced with the sauce and with the smoked taste of the meat.
In the end, I had a good moment in this bistrot, the asian influences in the dished were intelligently handled, it is not an excuse to increase the prices. We travel to Vietnam, Japan and Thaïland, I will come back to have a culinary travel again !
