Un Dimanche à Paris : chef Nicolas Bacheyre's playground

24/04/2018

People from all over the world salivate watching the pastries from the "Un Dimanche à Paris" tea room hidden in a discrete street of the Odéon district.

I have to admit that the system of the tea room is not really on point. We have to enter via the boutique, take a seat in the tea room but there is not a menu for the pastries so you have to go back to the boutique to choose and order the desserts we wish. The sellers write it down on a vulgar piece of paper that we take back to the tea room table and the waiter will take the order at that point...Wouldn't it be easier to order directly at the tea rool ? What a waste of time....

To top that the service is completly desorganized. I was waiting for a table and no one paid attention to me. The waiter that finally came didn't even know where to place me. Once seated it was better. Normally, it is quite difficult to make up for a bad start appart when there are good pastries !

Cheescake Virgin Mojito : an appetizing presentation. We feel the acidity of the lime balanced with the vanilla sponge cake. It's a pity that the taste of the mint is not very present. The nut and almond biscuit gave it a nice crunch for a final result that was fresh. It was almost like having a virgin mojito.

Le Galet (the pebble) : it is the perfect example of classical tastes brought up to date. The idea of taking a natural and refined element such as the pebble is great. About the taste, it's gourmet, the blonde caramel ganache montée is creamy. Associated to the white chocolate and the salted butter caramel is sure value that will please more than one . If I had to pin point a drawback it would be the biscuit that was quite hard to cut, trying to eat it I hit the plate quite hard, oops !

Le chocolat chaud (hot chocolate) : a little liquid for my taste. Sweet and bitter at the same time. The waiter serves it nicely which is nice.

In the end, I really loved the pastries but I was very disappointed by the desorganized service (the worst is that they even made a mistake in my bill...). One thing is sure, I will keep buying the pastries but will never eat them in the tea room ever again.
